Specialist Surgeon and Co-Founder
Dr Rebecca De Arburn Parent
DMV, Dipl. ACVS-SA
I’ve always been passionate about animals of all kinds. Around the age of 6, I told my parents that I wanted to become an oceanographer. At school, I took advantage of the oral presentations we had to prepare to deepen my knowledge of whales and sharks. 🦈
Eventually, after doing some research, I realized that being an oceanographer wouldn’t allow me to fulfill my dream of starring in the next *Free Willy*. So I turned to veterinary medicine. Not a bad Plan B, you might say!
I graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Montreal in 2013, and it was during my academic studies that I developed an interest (read: an obsession) with specialized surgery. I’ve been practicing exclusively veterinary surgery since 2015, and I earned my board certification from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) in 2020.
I love teaching and sharing my knowledge with my colleagues, veterinary students, and conscientious pet owners. Coupez is now my favorite platform for communication!
I’m the proud mom of Mathilda, an adorable, energetic, and funny little girl who is my greatest source of inspiration. Dr. Jérôme Benamou and I are a couple—as well as parents and business partners. It’s a good thing we don’t get on each other’s nerves too much! Our family also includes three cats, a little Chihuahua mix named Barbie, and a gorgeous merle-colored dachshund named Flûte.
